before:

• Avoid any chemical peel or laser procedures 14 days prior to treatment 
  Refrain from waxing, threading or the use of other depilatory products for 14 days prior to treatment.
• No shaving the area two days prior to the treatment 
• Make sure you’re not pregnant or breastfeeding 
• You don’t have any active cold sores or blisters 
• You have understood and used the appropriate mandatory home care to ensure adequate healing 
  

afterwards:
After recommended time of application has elapsed, remove the cosmelan 1 Mask with mesoestetic Milk or Gel Cleanser and warm water.

Immediately after removing the mask, apply (to dry skin) a small amount of the Hydravital Factor K Cream over the entire facial area. This cream will soothe and hydrate the skin, while contributing to the brightening of the complexion. 

Straight after the treatment you won’t feel much however that will change once you remove the mask after the time your therapist has allocated.

Your skin will start to feel sunburnt, warm, red, tight and potentially swollen (especially around the eyes) and this is all a normal response to break down that stubborn pigment. This sensation can last anywhere from a couple of days to a week. Your homecare products will certainly help relieve this as well as coming in for regular LED that we will book for you.
 
 
possible temporary responses: 

• Different degrees of erythema 
• Shedding or sloughing off in different degrees 
• swelling , sensitivity, itching or scaling ( in particular after application of melan recovery that follows cosmelan 2)
• Light oedema ( Fluid retention)
• Scabbing in places where skin has been prematurely ripped off or scratched 
• Repigmentation peaks ( days 30, 60, 90, due to the skin regeneration cycle )
• Transient increase of wrinkles (due to skin dehydration)

what to avoid

• No excessive sweating: including sauna, steam rooms and heavy exercise 
• No chlorine 
• No tanning beds or direct exposure to unprotected sun 
• No waxing 
• No products containing glycolic or salicylic acid, retinol (vitamin A) or scrubs 
• No picking or pulling flaking skin treatment - allow to shed naturally 
• Avoid using ANY other products other than the mesoestetic home care pack that has been prescribed to you from your skin technician. This pack is only to be used for six months post treatment 
• Avoid ANY treatments post six months post treatments unless directed from your skin technician 
  

what to do post treatment

• 1 st DAY: Upon returning home, leave mask on for 8 to 10 hours after the application, then cleanse the skin thoroughly with a neutral cleanser and water. Apply Mesoesthetic Hydravital Factor K cream over the entire treated area
• 2 nd DAY: After cleansing, apply Hydravital Factor K and sunblock (SPF 30 or higher) over treated area(s). Apply as many times daily as needed. 
•  3 rd DAY THROUGH 4 WEEKS POST TREATMENT: After cleansing, apply Cosmelan 2, followed by Hydravital Factor K 15 minutes later. Do this 3 times per day on day 3 through the first week; 2 times per day during the second week; and once daily during the third week.  
• AFTER 4th WEEK: Continue with Cosmelan 2 once daily for the next three months. Finish Cosmelan 2 and continue maintenance.  
• Sunblock should be used every morning on top of Hydravital Factor K.

Inform your skin clinician of any problems and follow any instructions you are given. As with any treatment, there is always a very small possibility that you could have a negative reaction that the clinician could not predict.
